In this emergency phase linked to the spread of Coronavirus in Italy, there is more and more talk of "sanitizing" the systems, but often in an improper way, even in the legislation.
This was supported by the CNA installation systems, which issued a press release to clarify this concept.
In confirmation of this thesis, the association cites the issuing of some regional ordinances, for example Tuscany and Abruzzo, in which the "sanitization of grids, vents and air filters is improperly arranged, by washing, disinfection / sterilization or by replacement".
In the ordinances in question - explains the note - as well as in other measures, there is an incorrect interpretation of the concept of "sanitation" which in Article 1 of the Ministerial Decree n. 274/1997 is defined as follows: "sanitation activities are those that concern the set of procedures and operations aimed at making certain environments healthy through cleaning and / or disinfection and / or disinfestation activities or through the control and improvement of the microclimate conditions as regards temperature, humidity and ventilation or as regards lighting and noise ”.
Sanitation, therefore - continues the CNA - concerns a "set of procedures and operations designed to make certain environments healthy", therefore it is applied to the environments and not to the plants or part of them and can be carried out by companies that must necessarily have particular economic-financial capacity and obligatorily a Technical Manager who must have a relationship of identification with the company and be in possession of specific technical-organizational requirements established by art. 2 of the D.M. 274/97.
The cleaning and sanitizing of grilles, vents and air filters, as well as all the operations that are carried out for example on the "air ducts", are activities referable to the ordinary maintenance of the aeraulic system complex and that if they require removal of components and / or parts of the plant can only be conducted by plant engineering companies authorized pursuant to Ministerial Decree 37/08.
